For this project I have designed the basis of a game. The game is based upon some photos that Itook on Dartmoor. I used these images to represent different sections of the game, and also to provide a background.
The game is an adventure puzzle maze game, where the objective is that your character is lost in the woods and you have to find your way out by adventuring onwards, gathering map tokens and interacting with computer generated characters in the game. Your encounters with these characters won't always go smoothly, for example, if you were interacting with a troll you'd have to either find a way to go around it, or convince it to move out of the way. Other characters are helpful; they could give hints or useful tokens to your character, for example, keys or pieces of a map.
Some aspects of the game I'm pleased with include the photographs, and the way I have manipulated them, eg, one of them I darkened overall, and added an eerie red glow at the end of the path. I am also pleased with the design I came up with for an enemy with the head of a fly, wings of a parrot, and venus flytrap defensive weaponry. I particularly like the general concept I came up with as it has the potential to add as many levels, characters and sceneries as I like.
Some aspects I would do differently would have to include adding more designs for creatures and other characters, and I would have liked to have added sound effects and music.
Overall, I am happy with how this project has turned out, and I feel that, given more time I could have developed the whole concept to a higher level.

Road Signs
Today i will be looking at road signs and their variations.
These signs with the red triangles are warnings, they are used to warn drivers of incoming obstacles such as pedestrians, bridges and steep slopes.
These signs with the red triangles are warnings, they are used to warn drivers of incoming obstacles such as pedestrians, bridges and steep slopes.
The signs shown here are used to inform drivers of upcoming objects such as which roads are one way only, the distance to an exit, merging lanes and best cycle routes.
These signs are mainly used for prohibitive purposes such as max speed limit restrictions, entry into a speed restricted zone, notification of national speed limits and warning of school crossing patrols.
The ideology of signs could be used in a game. for example, if you are making a puzzle/adventure game there will have to be some indication on what to do and where to go, so a sign could be useful, one a couple could be used to display choices the player could make to progress. Also signs could be used as symbols for power-ups in arcade and top-down shooter games.

Dartmoor game project
This path could be blocked by a monster or object.
The fork in the road could give a choice of three paths.
The gate could be locked thus giving the player the challenge of finding the key.
This path probably will have a shadowy figure in the background, also the leaves in the foreground look like a terrier.
The shadows from the trees make the path dark and spooky which could be where a horrible creature could dwell.
This bench could have some items of interest under it, also the sign could have some information on it.
The bridge could have something hiding nasty hiding under it.
There may be some helpful or hostile in the water and woods.
There could be someone to speak with on the board walk.
Something useful could be found in the high grass.
Another fork in the road provides more choice.
Here a monster blocks your path, do you either go back or try to outsmart it.
This long path will probably have something unpleasant hiding at the end of it.
Here you can speak to some one on the right or you can continue onward.
There might be something hiding in the grass.
This image can be darkened to make it look scary.
This path leads to a sharp turn, obscuring your view.
This path leads up to another choice of paths
This leads to the woods.
The path turns left giving one way to go.
This leads to the picture above.
You can either go onward or search the bushes for useful things.
This hill is the high point in the game which will help point the way out.
Here is a hut, it could belong to someone or something.
Here there is something sitting on the rock, it is hard to tell what it is.
These images will be used for an interactive game, this will be a maze game. The story will be that you are lost in the woods and have to find a way out. Along the way you we have to search for items that will help you later on, such as keys and parts of a map. also in the game you will encounter many creatures and other people, both helpful and otherwise.
Tokens
here are some token that will be used in the game.
This is a photo i maninulated to add into the game.
Here is the front view of one of the enemies that will feature in my game.
